Q : When bad thing happens to us, some said its because of our sin is abundant, its kaffarah of sin. some also said its because of hikmah behind it and must think good upon Allah. which one is true?
A : Both are true.
Musibah is a word coming from the quran. ‘People when inflicted musibah, they will say innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun.’
ulama takrif makna musibah is, things happen where to our fitrah, we dont like it.
for example, we lost our slipper. we dont like it. so its a musibah. poor or rich, or health or sick etc sunat to say innalillahi wa innailaihi rojiun.
there are two,
1)Allah give musibah because Allah wants to show His love towards His slave. for example, nabi and anbiya. Allah swt give them sick, illness, etc not because they did sin, but because He wanted to upgrade their rank.
2)Allah swt give musibah to erase our sin/kaffarah of sin. like us(not nabi and anbiya who were sinless), inflicted by musibah. we been given musibah to erase our sin of the past. because Allah doesnt want us to ‘pay’ for it in the hellfire, so thats why He give us musibah in this dunya, to ‘pay’/erase our sin in this dunya. maybe we have done wrong towards people, or our teacher etc.
however, the obvious enemy of Allah, like abu jahal, firaun, qarun etc those musibah were the payment for the evil that they did. musibah for them is azab/punishment from Allah swt.
if musibah inflicted on the believers, its not a punishment, its a trial from Allah.
but if musibah inflicted to us, we must remember two things,
1)bad things. if bad things happen, blame ourselves for it.
2)good thhings. if good things happen, praise Allah.
so that we can be humble.
some of us not like that. when good things happen to us, we feel we are the greatest, ‘tengok orang la boss..’ arrogant, proud, pride.
when bad things happen to us, we serkap jarang other people.
so just accept anything. there is kaffarah of sin, there is also hikmah behind it.
nothing happens in this world without hikmah behind it.
